Thursday, February 25th, 6:00 to 7:00 PM: Maine at 200 Series - A Century of Portland Painters, 1820 - 1920: During the past two centuries, Maine Historical Society has created a distinguished collection of Maine art that includes portraits, landscapes, and marine paintings. This lecture by Maine State Historian Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr. focuses on the life and work of fifteen Portland artists who contributed to the city's cultural development in Maine's first century of statehood. Their paintings in the Society's collection trace the evolution of a great New England city.
